It’s not a glam lifestyle club. It’s a naked backyard party with some hot tubs and house rules.

👀 First Impressions –Pulling up to Thad’s feels less like arriving at a swinger club and more like pulling into your uncle’s driveway for a backyard BBQ he forgot to tell you was now clothing-optional. Set on a quiet residential street in San Diego, this one-level ranch-style house with its mid-century facade could just as easily be an Elks Lodge, a Kiwanis Club, or that one neighbor’s place who’s always up to something. It reminded us instantly of other downhome country spots that aren’t known for their ambiance, like Whispers and Red Rooster in Vegas or PK Social in Reno – all venues that have clearly aged in place and decided that atmosphere is optional, but action is not.
The front exterior is simple with a locked pedestrian gate that leads you down a driveway toward the backyard. There’s no sign, no branding, nothing fancy to suggest what you’re about to walk into. If you didn’t know, you’d never know. Which, to be fair, is probably the point.
And let’s talk about that website. It’s giving Myspace-meets-VistaPrint, circa 1999. Pixelated flyers, janky fonts, neon text overlays… we half-expected a spinning “under construction” gif. But somehow that just makes it better. It’s a vibe. A terribly designed, softcore porn collage of a vibe.
🎟️ Inside Tour – Once inside, you’re greeted by what feels like a time capsule of California mid-century masculinity. Think faux leather booths, dim brick accents, tiled floors, and a darkened lounge area with a pool table that has definitely seen things and better days. The lighting is minimal (thankfully), and the vibe is more “someone’s converted living room” than “curated swingers den.”
You’ll find a locker area to stash your belongings (bring your own towel), a small bar area, and scattered seating throughout. Down a hallway, there are several small bedrooms, some labeled for couples only, some group-friendly – and while none of them are glamorous, they’re private enough for play and lit low enough to keep things sexy… or at least forgiving.
Outside is where Thad’s really opens up – again we’re talking boho backyard BBQ not glam. The large backyard features fire pits, a hot tub, and plastic chairs for mingling. This is where much of the night unfolds – naked men, lingerie-clad women, couples chatting, and the occasional spontaneous blowjob happening under the stars. Just your average Friday night.

👙 Dress Code – Let’s just say this place doesn’t mess around when it comes to nudity. Men must be fully nude once inside – except for footwear. Women must strip down to lingerie or anything sexy and revealing, but no street clothes are allowed beyond the locker area.
Honestly? This isn’t our type of vibe. We prefer to maintain control over when — and if — we disrobe. Being required to strip down just to socialize feels a little too prescriptive for our taste.
🎵 DJ/Bar – There’s a central bar area where you drop off your own bottle, and the staff (usually volunteers or regulars) will pour your drinks for you. It’s free, but tipping is expected. The bar itself is simple—no LED lights, no mixology wizardry—but you can get your drink and go.
On some nights, a DJ sets up either inside or outside by the fire pits. Music ranges from old-school pop to mainstream hip-hop—stuff you can dance to without feeling like you’re in a rave. That said, dancing isn’t really the main attraction. The dance floor is minimal, and most people are milling around, mingling, or finding their next play partner. Still, the music adds a layer of energy to the space, and on a good night, it keeps things feeling lively.
🍒 Playrooms – Thad’s has a ton of play space, spread across both the main house and a separate pool house out back. Inside the main house, you’ll find a variety of setups: big communal beds (some framed by giant windows for exhibitionists), small curtained nooks, and even a glory hole room. If you’re into showing off or spectating, you’ll be in heaven.
The pool house offers even more: private rooms, voyeur-friendly group spaces, and a large central bed area where things can get wild. If privacy is more your vibe, there are plenty of closed-door rooms as well. Upstairs is strictly couples-only. No single males allowed in that area. And this is strictly enforced.
The outdoor areas see just as much action. People play near the fire pits, on patio furniture, or in the hot tub. It’s raw, it’s public, and it’s clearly encouraged. Some nights, the outdoor sex energy is more intense than indoors.
🔥 Vibe check – If Red Rooster in Vegas and PK Social in Reno had a love child after a night of regret, it might look like Thad’s. It’s chaotic, unapologetically naked, and not for the faint of heart. This is not your upscale, curated swinger scene – it’s backyard debauchery wrapped in San Diego casual. The guests are usually friendly, but the all-nude male policy, zero-frills vibe, and the overwhelming single dude ratio means it won’t be for everyone. Women will likely feel very watched. Men will likely feel… chilly. The average age skews older – mostly 40s to 60s, with the occasional unicorn (usually a brave newbie) wandering through.
⚠️ Should you go? – Thad’s is not for everyone. If you’re looking for ambiance, aesthetics, or exclusivity, steer clear. But if you’re local to San Diego, don’t mind the all-nude male and semi-nude female policy, and are craving a laid-back, no-judgment sex club with outdoor firepit hangs and a weirdly charming dive bar vibe – this might be your new spot.
